The unintended expat blogger behind Nova Paper Trail

Hello, I'm Sophie
I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Paris, France.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't in the grand scheme. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, expectations. Daily chores seemed more tangled than intended.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning awaited. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt secure.
Why I Built Nova Paper Trail
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guides or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was an authentic, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that divide — practical advice drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a meaningful change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in France continues, and so does the learning process. As long as this information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, don’t hesitate to contact me.
